Learning more about the 2017 Mazda3 trim levels is the best way to ensure that you drive off the lot with the perfect configuration for your needs. The Mazda3 is available as a 4-door sedan or 5-door hatchback model. These variations are nearly identical except for their difference in body style. Because of this, you mostly need to consider which trim you prefer.
2017 Mazda3 Sport
The base version of the 2017 Mazda3 is the Sport trim. It has 16-inch steel wheels, height adjustment for the driver, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a 60/40 rear split and folding seat, keyless entry and ignition, and cruise control. There is a 7-inch touchscreen plus a knob controller, Bluetooth, six speakers, two USB inputs, an auxiliary audio input, smartphone-enabled internet radio, voice controls, and HD radio.
If you want a bit more than the Sport trim offers without upgrading to the next trim, you can add the Preferred Equipment Package. This includes heated side mirrors, automatic wipers, automatic headlights, alloy wheels, a rear-seat armrest, premium cloth upholstery, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts.
2017 Mazda3 Touring
The Mazda3 Touring builds on the Sport trim with the Preferred Equipment Package. However, it upgrades to 18-inch alloy wheels. You also get low-speed forward collision warning with mitigation, imitation leather upholstery, leather on the shift knob and steering wheel, 6-way power for the driver, heated front seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
A Mazda3 Touring Popular Equipment Package is available on the 4-door, but not the 5-door. It gives you a sunroof, rear lip spoiler, nine speakers of Bose surround sound, satellite radio, a CD player, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Meanwhile, only the 5-door version of the Mazda3 offers a Touring 2.5 trim with a more powerful engine plus a sunroof.
2017 Mazda3 Grand Touring
At the top of the line for either body style of the 2017 Mazda3 is the Grand Touring trim. It offers the features mentioned above, including the larger engine. It also has a gloss-black grille insert, LED fog lights, full leather upholstery, a digital speedometer, and a head-up display.
Those who want even more features can add a Premium Equipment Package with LED daytime running lights, headlights, and taillights, along with paddle shifters, a heated steering wheel, and navigation. There is also an i-ACTIVSENSE Safety Package for advanced safety and an i-Eloop package for regenerative braking.
